The Greene King Local Pub in Cambridgeshire opened its doors on Wednesday 7 March.

The new place to be for locals and visitors alike, the Isle of Ely officially opened its doors on Wednesday 7 March, inviting guests to enjoy an extensive menu and drink offering within its unique surroundings. As well as serving up a new venue for the historic city, the Isle of Ely has also created 25 new jobs.

The Greene King pub is a super stylish addition to Ely Leisure Village and provides the perfect setting for relaxed family dining, pre-cinema drinks or a causal catch up over coffee. The pub is also a hub for sports fans too, with all the latest and greatest SKY fixtures screening on super-sized displays throughout the spacious site.

The interior décor takes inspiration from local, iconic landmarks and includes stunning photography of Ely Cathedral, together with references to the city’s history. The striking scheme features an on-trend colour palette of deep blues, paired with bold grey and copper highlights, with plenty of seating areas to eat, drink and soak up the atmosphere – whether indoors, or on the large outdoor terrace area.

Guests can select from pub classics and tasty chicken dishes, to lighter bites and colourful, calorie conscious salads – or even coffee and cake for just £2.99. The venue also offers a wide drinks selection with craft beers, including national and local cask ales, plus an array of gins and rums.

The first guests to step inside the Isle of Ely were Tom Cockerton and his three year old son, Freddie. Tom commented: “What a great addition to Ely Leisure Village! The menu is massive and has something for everyone. There’s a really unique feel to the place, with some great local references within the décor to catch your eye. I love it and can’t wait to return soon, especially with my family for Sunday lunch.”

Alan Kitson, general manager at the Isle of Ely, was excited to welcome locals in to see what Greene King has been brewing up: “The opening day has been a real success and we’ve already received some incredible feedback from our guests. The pub looks fantastic and we were all so excited to swing open the doors and share Ely’s latest offering with them!

“We have designed the pub to ensure it caters for everyone, making it a destination for a wide range of guests, whether they’re celebrating something special, joining us before catching the latest blockbuster or simply want a night away from the kitchen! We can even make weekends even easier with our delicious Sunday lunches, tempting pudding selection and sporting fixtures on the big screens.

“The team and I had a great day and we can’t wait to welcome new and returning visitors to the Isle of Ely very soon!”
