A stylish new Greene King pub is set to become the latest addition to Ely Leisure Village creating 25 new jobs for the local area.

The Isle of Ely will open on Wednesday 7 March, providing visitors with the perfect setting for family dining, pre-cinema snacks or catch up over coffee and cake. The place to be for the big games, the pub will also be equipped with SKY, allowing sports fans to watch their heroes on super-sized screens.

Whatever the occasion, guests can enjoy an extensive menu, offering everything from pub classics and tasty chicken dishes, to lighter bites and colourful salads. Sundays are made easy at the Isle of Ely too, as the team will offer delicious roasts all day and a tempting pudding selection, allowing guests to round off the weekend in style. The venue will also offer an extensive drinks range with craft beers – from national and local cask ales, an array of gins and rums.

The relaxed atmosphere is reflected in the pub’s new interior design, which offers a bold colour scheme of inky blues, mustard and charcoal greys, natural wood tones and copper detailing – paired with signature pieces of furniture and contemporary flooring. The large outdoor terrace area also provides the ideal location for alfresco dining and drinks.

While the pub’s interior reflects the latest trends, the name was inspired by local history. The ancient city of Ely occupied the largest island in the Cambridgeshire Fens. It was then given the name ‘Isle of Ely’, so called because it was only accessible by boat until the waterlogged Fens were drained in the 17th century.

Alan Kitson will take on the role of general manager at the Isle of Ely and comments: “We’re incredibly excited to launch on 7 March and can’t wait to open the doors! The pub will be a great destination for locals, whether you’re visiting us for a quick bite, long lazy lunch, the latest fixtures or a family get together.

Alan added: “To ensure our offering is tailored to the location, we will be serving a selection of locally brewed cask ales, craft beers and a wide selection of gins – in addition to our extensive drinks collection and delicious menu. We look forward to welcoming the people of Ely soon!”
