It was a weekend of celebrations fit for a queen when two local care homes hosted free, family events for the community.
The Care UK teams at Field Lodge on London Road and Hinton Grange on Bullen Close welcomed local people to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
Both care homes raised a glass to the Queen on her 92nd birthday to mark the occasion. Residents and visitors at Field Lodge took part in a reminiscence quiz all about the Queen’s life, and enjoyed live music from local musician, Nick Lowe.
Meanwhile, Hinton Grange celebrated with a 1920s themed street party and a special screening of a film showing life in Britain during the 20s.
Linda Martinez, home manager at Field Lodge said: “We had a fantastic day celebrating Care Home Open Day and marking the Queen’s 92nd birthday. The quiz was a fantastic way to reminisce with the residents about their memories of the Queen when she was younger, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment.
Maxine Bain, home manager at Hinton Grange added: “Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like. We had a fantastic time celebrating with a traditional street party and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make the day extra special.”
