THE WILDLIFE GARDEN AT FERRY MEADOWS COUNTRY PARK IN PETERBOROUGH, IS IN BLOOM ONCE AGAIN THANKS TO £4K BAGS OF HELP GRANT FROM TESCO.

Their ‘Volunteer Hub and Wildlife Garden’ project was up for the Tesco Bags of Help customer vote in Autumn 2018. The supermarket shoppers chose the Ferry Meadows based project as their winner by placing blue tokens in their voting box over the 2 month period.

Tesco colleagues Charlotte Townshend and Helen Jones from the Extra store in Hampton, Peterborough recently visited the Country Park and helped their volunteers complete the planting of the garden, as well as being shown the newly renovated Volunteer Hub, both of which were funded by the cash from Tesco. Charlotte said: “Both Helen and I were absolutely thrilled to come along and help plant this lovely wildlife garden, which will be enjoyed not only by the wildlife, but also our greater community.

“Thousands of people visit this beautiful park every year, including hundreds of our colleagues, so it’s very exciting to know Tesco were able to do their part to help improve this amazing space.”

The money used to fund this, as well as many other Bags of Help projects across Peterborough, comes from the sale of Tesco’s 10p Bags for Life. Local community groups can find out more and apply to be part of the scheme by visiting www.groundwork.org.uk/tesco
